My sister has been having the same problem this year with grackles in her yard in Xenia.

Lisa Rainsong <[log in to unmask]> wrote:  The culprit could well be a Grackle. Here in the Cleveland area I've seen them take House Sparrows, House Finches, and even a fledgling Starling. I periodically find the remains minus at least part of the head. My mother recently announced that she's going to have to stop feeding the birds after witnessing two such "murders," as she calls them.
