have a small songbird at my feeder every day about the size of a goldfinch.  Brown with what looks like a small cap on his head. For a little bird he has the loudest song I have ever heard.  Also this year, I have many, many red winged blackbirds at  my feeder.  I never saw so many coming for commerical birdseed.  I am not sure what the female red winged blackbirds look like but these birds are about the size of a cardinal with a striped breast and sort of a rust colored throat.  Is that the female?  Just  wondering if food is scarce in the fields this year since these birds have almost never frequented my feeders.  They are so used to it now that they  wait for me to come home from work and fill the feeders.
