SPECIES IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS ARE REVIEW-LIST SPECIES. Details of
these sightings are desired by The Ohio Bird Records Committee. Careful
observation, not ornithological expertise, is the only qualification
for submitting your data. For details and pointers see:
http://www.ohiobirds.org/records/documentation.php

Cattle Egret: Jeff Cullen reported seeing them on Rt. 4 south of
Sandusky on the 21st.

Yellow-crowned Night-Heron: Reported from the Preston Road, Columbus,
nest site on the 23rd.

MISSISSIPPI KITE: Single kites were seen at the Brass Ring Gold Course,
Logan, on the 21st and 24th. A pair were seen soaring near the lodge at
Burr Oak Lake State Park, Morgan County, on the 21st.

BLACK RAIL: The most recent report of the Charlie's Pond, Pickaway
County rail(s) was from the 23rd.
For directions see the Ohio Ornithological Website:
http://www.ohiobirds.org/birdingsites/showsite.php?Site_ID=44

BLACK-NECKED STILT: Rob and Sandy Harlan found a pair in a flooded
field along Riddle Road (TR 292) in York Township west of Bellevue,
Sandusky County, on the 22nd. On the 24th, Jeff and Becky Cullen found
two pairs "in the pond along the east side of TR 80 in Seneca County,
just south of Seneca County Line Road (CR 113)". Presumably this
included the pair found by the Harlans. On the 27th, Tom Barlett
reported one pair from the TR 80 location.

BURROWING OWL: Apparently resident for about a week on private land
near Greenville, Darke County, the bird eluded a horde of birders who
descended upon the site on the 25th. Robb Clifford, who publicized the
find, provided these directions: "Take OH-502 [west] out of Greenville
and turn North (right) onto Springhill Rd, then turn left (west) onto
Wildcat Rd. Look for the white fencing on the left hand side of the
road. The owl has been seen standing near a culvert along the road."

Bell's Vireo: Bill Hull, while stalking dragonflies on the 22nd, found
one singing at Campbell Lakes Preserve, Hamilton County. Two were
singing along the Heritage Bike Trail, Hilliard, on the 22nd. The OSU
west campus birds, located just west of the Carmack Road, No. 5 parking
lot, were reported most recently on the 23rd.

Clay-colored Sparrow: Karen Menard found one singing in Oak Openings
MetroPark on the 22nd. It was still present on 24th. Matt Anderson
provided these directions on RareBird. org: "…off of Monclova Road
between Wilkins and Girdham. There is a thinned-out pine stand on the
north side of Monclova maybe a quarter mile or so west of Wilkins.
Walk the fire lane/horse trail that skirts the west edge of the pine
stand. … the sparrow was singing from the edge of the pines and from
the open field just west of there near the very north end of the pine
stand."

Western Meadowlark: The resident bird at Range Line and Cygnet Roads
west of Cygnet, Wood County, was tallied for the OBBA on the 21st.
Another, found in Williams County three weeks ago, just south of Lake
Seneca along P50 Road near house number 8633, was relocated by a Toledo
Naturalists Association fieldtrip on the 21st.
