Highlights of a long day of chasing 6/2.

(lowlight - didn't find the Logan Mississippi kite)

Preston Rd., Columbus - one adult and two juvenile yellow-crowned night-herons in what appears to be the only active nest.

Charley's Pond - listened to one black rail, unseen but as close as six feet, from 1 to about 1:20 pm. A state bird for me, only my third ever.

Homestead Park, Hilliard (Heritage bike path) - Bell's vireo singing from atop a bush just past the half-mile marker. Also a mockingbird on a nest.

Big Island WA, OH 95 at Herr Rd. (west of Marion) - 7 Wilson's phalaropes (3 female, 4 male), working the small pond at the northwest of the intersection. Also at least 30 killdeer, a bobolink, 1-2 eastern meadowlark, 1-2 savannah sparrow, a sora calling.

Thanks to all who posted directions to the rail, vireo, and phalaropes.
