The pair of barred owls in Avon Lake I previously reported
are gone. A tree trimming company cut down several large oaks
in one of the yards where they were roosting and the birds have
disappeared.
Its a shame because the yard owner knew about the birds and was quite
interested in them.
They probably didn't think it would affect the owls because these
trees were
not the trees the owls roosted in. They were near enough though. A
number of trees also had
branches removed.

I looked for owl pellets beneath the trees and was unable to find any
but there is a lot of poison ivy
and English ivy beneath the remaining trees that would hide the pellets.

I don't think these birds successfully had any babies either.
