The Cowan Lake spillway this morning had 27 Killdeer making a mighty racket in that limited space. There was also indication of the fall gathering of swallows, mostly Rough-wings and 16 Mallards, quiet and easily spooked. The spillway itself looks about right for shorebirds and the new rain should make it even more attractive. It should be worth checking unless we get a prolonged dry spell.

Dreary Day Cheers, Larry Gara
