We've been greeted the last few mornings with the call of scarlet
tanagers. So far we've counted 3 males.
Momlady, our master birder, was here yesterday and identified a red-
eyed vireo. Eastern wood pee-wees, phoebes and great crested
flycatchers are regulars in the yard. Hummingbirds (4) and tufted
titmice (10)are at an all time high at their respective feeders. I
suspect some of the birds arrived to feast on Japanese beetles which
are also at an all time high this year. Chipping sparrows are
feasting on moths that are at least half their size. It's been one
active yard here in Wakeman, Lorain County
Happy birding
Dorothy
