My daughter and I went for a walk over at Lima lake looking for any raptors that may pass by....didn't see any while I was there. But I did see a pair of bluebirds defending their territory in the cottonwood tree by the boat ramp. Odd, they were defending it from an Eastern Kingbird. Perhaps they saw it as a threat?

I saw a couple of Carolina Wrens "encouraging" a male Cardinal to go elsewhere. near the end of the trail by the "beach".

As far as water birds, on the far side of the lake there was a Mute Swan. and an adult Ring Billed Gull with a bluegill in it's mouth. And a Juvi RBG pecking around the grass in the parking lot. I'm going to post a pic in the bird Id section of the OOS forum.

We then went over to the east trail of teddy bear park...what a name!
I went there basically to see the hummingbird moths...cute little critters. But we did see a couple of Song Sparrows, a male Indigo Bunting, and a Male Eastern Towhee.

We didn't see any of the osprey or other raptors while we were in Lima...but we did see several Red tailed hawks between LaRue and Lima. Including one that was staring down a vulture out in a field.:) We did go up to the resivoir and I think that I saw the osprey there but I can't be for certain..to much backlight for me to get a drive by ID.

Great day birding....Bad day for everything else. A friend and fellow believer was racing one of those little alcohol racing cars last night in Toledo. He had an accident and later died from his injuries. He leaves a wife and a couple of cute little kids. She works for the same company I do, so financialy they will be OK. But as you can imagine, it is a huge loss for the family. He was also our towns only garage mechanic and was respected by most of the community. The town is basically in shock tonight as well. So if you pray, pray for the Gibson family.

God bless

Steve
