Englewood North Park - Wednesday, July 23
The short-grass prairie at Englewood Metroparks North Park is absolutely
stunning with wildflowers. If you haven't seen it yet, put it on your list.
Bird species seen:
Indigo buntings--everywhere!
Blue grosbeak
Green-backed herons - 2
Song & field sparrows
Common yellowthroats--everywhere!
Barn, tree, and bank swallows
Osprey
Yellow warbler
Ruby-throated hummingbird
Killdeer
Wood ducks
American robin
Turkey vulture
Red-tailed hawk
Great blue herons
Canada geese
American goldfinches
Willow flycatchers
Eastern kingbirds
Brown-headed cowbirds
Mallard
Carolina wren
Red-winged blackbirds by the ton!
And probably some others we've forgotten.
Also, many interesting "bugs", butterflies, dragonflies, bees, wasps, sphinx
moths, and who knows what else?
