I was birding around Buck Creek State Park (Old Delorme 66A3) this
morning. We didn't see much on the beach although there were a couple
Herring Gulls which we haven't seen recently. Then we drove northeast to
Baldwin Lane which runs from Moorefield Road to State Route 4. On the
high power lines we saw approximately 450 Purple Martins. This the
largest concentration of Purple Martins I have seen here.
There were also some interesting butterflies around this weekend. We saw
several Common Buckeyes, some Swarthy Skippers, a Common Checkered
Skipper, and a Variegated Fritillary.
