Greetings!
I just returned from the Wood Stork site and the birds are still there. There are now THREE...not TWO, but...THREE Wood Storks at the site!
Robin Densmore and I arrived at around 6:30 and the birds were actively feeding in the pond. Rob Harlan was the only other soul there when we arrived at the site. After we watched the birds for about 1/2 hour another bird flew in, circling the pond several times, before joining the other two birds. All three birds were actively feeding in a group up until the time that I left, which was about 7:30. The bird fed the entire time, only pausing to occassionally chase one another or stretch their wings. The bird seem to be totally oblivious to people and road traffic, providing unbelievable looks. In fact, when I left they were the colsest to the road that they had been all evening. I would estimate that there were about 40-50 people there when we left.
Bruce Glick and Troy Shively got some really good photos...I would wager. Hopefully, we'll see some of them soon! :)
Get there as soon as you can. It's definately worth the visit! Don't miss out on this extremely rare Ohio visitor!
Good birding...and good luck!
