I had three Yellow-billed Cuckoos and two Black-billed Cuckoos below the
pond in the forest this evening (old DeLorme 70 D2). One of the
Black-billeds was very cooperative in perfect light for extended time
allowing for some good photos. The bird sat so contently in clear view for
over 10 minutes preening and making some of the craziest sounds. The birds
were spread out ranging from very close to way down in the forest below -
one ravine over. It was amazing to hear them all at once. Black-billed is
such a smaller bird, almost petite compared to the YB. It's bill was massive
though. These birds are such graceful flyers. I'll post some images
tomorrow or the next day on the forum if I can get them under the size limit
and still do them justice.

On a less fortunate note, Burr Oak Lake is very full of water unlike last
year this time when I had around ten species of shorebirds off of Dock 3
road. I can't see any mudflat developing in the near future on the north
end of the lake, especially if we keep getting thunderstorms like we have.
