Several hundred purple martins were swirling over the west end of
Sandusky Bay near Pickerel Creek Wildlife Area this evening just before
dusk. A large proportion appeared to have light bellies (that is, there
seemed to be very few adult males). A strong east wind was blowing
across the bay - could it have been blowing insects against the trees on
the shore? In any case, it was a very nice sight!
