I started at Whittier peninsula, then worked my way up to the Olentangy wetlands (OSU campus). Water levels were fairly low, but shorebirds were few. Landbird migrants were also very inconspicuous, in contrast to the reports from Blendon. Highlights included:
Waders - 19 Great Egrets were in the bay off the Whittier boat launch. Also present were 3 Great Blues, 1 Black-cr.Night heron, and 1 Green Heron
Shorebirds - the mud bar at Whittier had 1 Solitary, 1 Kildeer, and 3 Least Spr. The Olentangy wetlands had plenty of exposed mud but no shorebirds
E.Kingbird - 1 was at Whittier, but none were at Olentangy, which is usually a relaible spot for them.
Thrushes - 1-2 Swainsons were lurking in the riparian patch at Olentangy, but none were at Whittier. Small flocks of Robins graced both sites.
Warblers - hardly any, with single Tennessee at Whittier and a Bleack-thr.Blue at Olentangy
