Little Blue heron: Bill Heck reported one on the 6th from the pond 
behind the old nature center/store at Ottawa National Wildlife 
Refuge.

TRICOLORED HERON: Lisa Romaniuk found one on the beach at Sheldon 
Marsh Nature Preserve, Erie County, on the 8th.

WOOD STORK: Three juveniles were continuing at their Coshocton 
County location through the 8th. There have been a couple of 
negative reports since. Bruce Glick provided these directions: "Old 
DeLorme Page 61 5C. From U.S. Route 36 east of Coshocton, take 
State Route 93 south through West Lafayette and Plainfield. Stay on 
route 93 south, passing the Y where SR Rt. 541 goes off to the 
southeast, and after another 1-2 miles, just after a mowed hayfield 
on the right, take C.R. 145 to the right (west) for approx. .5 -.7 
miles - to a small V-shaped pond, just after a bridge over a creek. 
The pond is right beside the gravel road on the right side and 
recent cuttings of branches (power company) are on the ground by 
the road."

Willet: The Bobolink RBA (330-763-5119) reports that one was seen 
on the 6th and 7th along Prairie Lane, Killbuck Wildlife Area, 
Wayne County.

Upland Sandpiper: On the 7th Chuck Anders reported that they were 
still present in southwestern Wood County on the south side of 
Mermill Road between Potter and Rangeline Roads.

Whimbrel: Craig Holt counted one at the Conneaut sand spit, 
Ashtabula County, on the 9th.

Marbled Godwit: The previously reported bird at the Twin Lakes area 
of O'Shaughnessy Nature Preserve, Franklin County, (off Dublin Road 
just north of the town of Shawnee Hills) continued through the

Red Knot: One was reported from Conneaut on the 6th and two from 
the Lorain impoundment on the 7th.

Western Sandpiper: Reported this week from the Lorain Impoundment, 
Lorain County, on the 7th; from Berlin Reservoir, Stark County, on 
the 8th; from Conneaut, Ashtabula County, on the 9th; and from the 
flooded fields at the railroad tracks on CR 292 west of Bellevue on 
the 10th.

Buff-breasted Sandpiper: Previously reported birds continued this 
week at the flooded field near the railroad tracks along TR 292 in 
Sandusky County, just north of the Seneca County line; at Conneaut, 
Ashtabula County; and at the Berlin Reservoir, Stark County. New 
finds were on the beach at the Magee Marsh Wildlife Area, Lucas 
County, on the 5th; and on the east side of Hoover Reservoir, 
Delaware County, at least through the 11th. 

Olive-sided Flycatcher: The McNulty’s found one about 100 yards 
from the beginning of the Brookside Trail, Blendon Woods Metropark, 
Franklin County, on the 5h. On the 7th, Jay Stenger found one at 
Shawnee Lookout Park, Hamilton County, “at the top of the usual 
snag on the southeast corner of the parking lot”. Bob Lane found 
two on the shore of Berlin Reservoir, Stark County, on the 11th.

WESTERN KINGBIRD: Paul Wharton reported seeing one on the 5th (?) 
at the Fernald Nature Preserve, Hamilton County. He gave these 
directions: “to get to the area, come in the Willey Rd. entrance 
and before you get to the big pumping station, there is a roped off 
road on the left with a dumpster along the side of the road. Walk 
down this road until you get to the second small blue pump house. 
The Kingbird was in the area to the right of the pumphouse.”
