It is getting late for breeding bird records..but I got one tonight. A friend of mine called(Dave Dyer) to say he had 4-young Cedar Waxwings on the ground..they were found while mowing grass. All were fine..but no nest in sight..the good news is the parent bird was close by, and concerned about the young. My best guess is they need at least a week or so for fledging..

We got a small wooden box, and some straw, and set it up off the ground. With feral cats..skunks, coyotes..ect. And the cold..we are worried, but we did all we could. The parent had no trouble finding them in the new spot, and we watched some feeding before we left them alone.

Safe dates are 7/20 for this one..so this shows how late this is..Peterjohn says some second nesting attempts are as late as 9/3(with eggs). And on Oct. 26th-1981, a nest with young was found near Dayton.

We did get some pics..and will try and post them on the other site soon.
