Hi all,
The Ohio Young Birders Club took a trip to Kelley’s Island over the weekend. While staying at a lakeshore cottage, members explored the geology, flora, and fauna of the island while visiting various nature preserves. Even with all the rain, migrants were still around consisting of 14 species of warblers (including Orange-crowned) and Philadelphia Vireos among others. Also observed was a Yellow-billed Cuckoo still feeding fledged young in one of the quarries. A trip report will soon be posted on the OYBC website at www.ohioyoungbirders.org
Also, I had around 175 Great and 15 Snowy Egrets in one of the impoundments at Medusa Marsh last Friday. It was a personal high count within the state for me. No Tricolored or Little Blue…
