I stopped by Lorain Impoundment this afternoon. I'm not exactly sure what the deal was with the shorebirds here, but instead of using the fairly extensive mudflats, most were sitting on the ground on the dried mud. 23 Semipalmated Plovers were present and one BAIRD'S. Eight Green-winged Teal and two Northern Pintails were also in the area, as well as 11 Soras. The phragmite patches were loaded with calling Soras...I wonder how many were REALLY present. Early Lincoln's and White-crowned (2) Sparrows were the passerine highlights.

Good birding -
