We did our monthly bird census yesterday and saw 67 species.
Highlights included:
Warblers:  orange-crowned, n. parula, magnolia, Cape May, BT blue,
yellow-rumped, bay-breasted, blackpoll, black and white,  n. water
thrush, common yellow throat, Wilson's and American redstart.    (many
seen near the boardwalk tower as they mobbed a screech owl!)
Vireos: Red-eyed, Philadelphia, warbling
Waterfowl:  Canada geese, GW teal, Wood duck, and mallard
Other birds of note:  American Bittern, bobolinks, coot, snowy egrets,
Forsters, common and Caspian terns, belted kingfisher, e. kingbird, bank
swallow, brown thrasher, cedar waxwings, and swamp sparrow.
Fall Bird Walks:   Saturday Sept. 20 and Saturday Sept. 27   at 8:30 am
at the west end of the boardwalk.
