SPECIES IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS ARE REVIEW-LIST SPECIES. Details of these sightings are desired by The Ohio Bird Records Committee. Careful observation, not ornithological expertise, is the only qualification for submitting your data. For details and pointers see:

TRICOLORED HERON: A bird found by Jen Brumfield on the 24th in the Medusa Marsh area of Erie County, northeast of the intersection of OH 2 and OH 269 continued at least through the 2nd.

WOOD STORK: One of only a handful of Ohio records and the first to be "chasable", three juveniles were continuing at their Coshocton County location through the 3rd. Bruce Glick provided these directions: "Old DeLorme Page 61 5C. From U.S. Route 36 east of Coshocton, take State Route 93 south through West Lafayette and Plainfield. Stay on route 93 south, passing the Y where SR Rt. 541 goes off to the southeast, and after another 1-2 miles, just after a mowed hayfield on the right, take C.R. 145 to the right (west) for approx. .5 -.7 miles - to a small V-shaped pond, just after a bridge over a creek. The pond is right beside the gravel road on the right side and recent cuttings of branches (power company) are on the ground by the road."

Upland Sandpiper: On the 2nd, Tom Kemp reported that they were present in southwestern Wood County on the south side of Mermill Road between Potter and Rangeline Roads.

Whimbrel: Gabe Leidy reported four flew over Conneaut on the 31st. One was seen flying at Grand Rapids along the Maumee River on the 3rd.

Marbled Godwit: The previously reported bird at the flooded fields at the railroad tracks on CR 292 northwest of Bellevue continued at least through the 30th. The previously reported bird at the Twin Lakes area of O'Shaughnessy Nature Preserve, Franklin County, (off Dublin Road just north of the town of Shawnee Hills) continued through the 4th. Aaron provided this Google Map: http://tinyurl.com/5qdj78.

Red Knot: John Pogacnik reported one from Conneaut on the 29th.

Western Sandpiper: A good showing this week with birds reported on the 29th from Willow Point Wildlife Management Area, Erie County; on the 1st from Prairie Oaks MetroPark, Franklin/Madison Counties; on the 2nd from Englewood MetroPark, Montgomery County; and on the 3rd from the Lorain Impoundment, Lorain County.

Buff-breasted Sandpiper: One continued to be reported at the flooded field near the railroad tracks along TR 292 in Sandusky County, just north of the Seneca County line, through the 29th. Elsewhere, birds were reported on the 29th at Conneaut, Ashtabula County; on the 31st south of the Rt. 225 bridge over the Berlin Reservoir, Stark County; on the 1st at the far west end of the Lake Erie beach at Maumee Bay State Park, Lucas County; and on the 2nd at Englewood MetroPark, Montgomery County.

Red-necked Phalarope: One continued to be reported in Sandusky County at the flooded fields at the railroad tracks on CR 292 northwest of Bellevue through the 29th. Another was reported from along Prairie Lane, Killbuck Wildlife Area, Wayne County, on the 1st.
