Good shorebirding continued today. Excellent numbers of 15 species. Many thanks to Kent Miller for his posting yesterday. Directions to the area are: take SR225 north of Alliance, and go 0.3 mile past Price Road to an abandoned Drive-In restaurant on the left. Park in the old parking lot or drive down to water's edge.
At 5PM today there were at least 8 Buff-breasted Sandpipers between the Drive-In beach and the SR225 bridge. To find them start scanning the sand bars and walk north along the shore scanning the mudflats. They seem to always be on the move! A new sighting for today not seen by us yesterday, was 2 American Pipits.
Berlin mudflat conditions are changing quickly. How long good shorebirding will last is hard to determine. Day to day!
