I wanted to go back down to Evans L. and Pine L. today to look through the gulls more thoroughly than I could yesterday. This turned out to be a good idea, because while the gulls had deserted Pine L. there were many at Evans L. The tally was 700 ring-billed gulls, 50 herring gulls, and 1 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL. I would say it was a bird entering it's 4th winter, adult-looking except for reduced white in the primary tips. I had great views of it at the dam in late afternoon. There are only a couple other records for Mahoning Co. I think. Another good find at Evans L. was a snow goose (white morph) grazing with Canadas. Highlights at Pine L. were 6 wood ducks and 15 great egrets. Also found in various E Mahoning locales today were wild turkeys, turkey vultures, 2 chimney swifts, e. phoebe, e. bluebirds, Am. robins, n. mockingbird, yellow-rumped warblers, chipping and song sparrows, and red-winged blackbirds. Later, Craig
