Steve,

A hummingbird bander in Oklahoma has been keeping track of albino
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds for at least the past 15 years, and has reports
of at least 200-300 of them from all over the species' range. Michigan has
had two reports in the past few years, plus a leucistic bird this year. Of
all the albino Ruby-throats that have been banded (probably nearly 100),
none have been adults when banded and none have been recaptured as adults,
which might be expected for such a conspicuous small bird as it would more
easily fall prey to predators.

Every day, the hummingbird eats its own weight in food.
You may wonder how it weighs the food.
It doesn't. It just eats another hummingbird.
