Today was the first waterbird survey of the season. It was a decent flight
for mid-October. Most of the birds were out quite a way from shore. There
was a brief movement of Bonaparte's, but it ended pretty quick. The best
birds were PARASITIC JAEGER and 34 COMMON MERGANSERS. My guess with the
mergansers is they bred somewhere locally (Pennsylvania ??). there was one
adult male and the others appeared to be immatures/females. The jaeger
passed by around 7:30 It flew through to the west without slowing down. It
was a young bird.
