Hello!

For the past few evenings, I hiked the Dripping Rock and pet trails at
Highbanks in southern Delaware County.  Early this evening I had great  prolonged
views of an Orange-Crowned Warbler mixed in with a flock of  Yellow-Rumped
Warblers on the pet trail along the tree line that runs  north-south just west of
the large dead tree near the Adena mound.  Last  Friday, I also saw an
Orange-Crowned feeding in the goldenrod at the beginning  of the pet trail.  For the
past few days, there have been good  numbers of both Kinglet species with one
this evening clearly  showing its ruby crown.  I observed first of season
Juncos, a  White-Crowned Sparrow, a Hermit Thrush, a Winter Wren, and a
Sharp-Shinned  Hawk along the pet trail this past weekend.  There have been several
Towhees grouped together sometimes calling simultaneously with up to four in a
group along the pet trail.  Also, last evening, I heard a pair of  Great-Horned
Owls hooting from the trail spur off of the Dripping Rock  trail that leads
to the other Adena mound.  This is the same area where a  pair have nested the
past few winters.  This location is in addition to the  other traditional nest
site in the sycamore tree that is easily seen from  the Dripping Rock trail
where a second pair have nested for several years.   Overall numbers of the
more common birds were greater this evening than during  the past week.
