I spent some time in Ashtabula Co. today.  Started off at Conneaut harbor; best bird there was an adult basic LITTLE GULL.  It arrived with a flock of 125 Bonaparte's gulls in mid-morning.  There were also 2 lesser black-backed gulls around, a third-cycle bird and a first-cycle bird.  Waterfowl and shorebird movement was about nil. but there was a decent mix already there: n. pintail, Am. black duck, 10 green-winged teal, the hen greater scaup, 4 black-bellied plovers, killdeers, semipalmated plover, lesser yellowlegs, and a dunlin (still in mostly juv. plumage).  Other waterbirds included great egret, Am. coots, and belted kingfisher.  Passerines were more interesting than usual: marsh wren, Carolina wren, ruby-crowned kinglets, hermit thrush, gray catbird, 10 yellow-rumped warblers, white-crowned sparrows, and white-throated sparrows.  Just to the west at Malek Pk. I added savannah sparrow, chipping sparrows, and more white-crowns.  I went down
to Pymatuning next; there was nothing exciting on the Ohio side.  Last stop was at Orwell Marsh, where I found 5 blue-winged teal, 2-3 red-headed woodpeckers, e. phoebe, e. bluebirds, kinglet sp., yellow-rumped warblers, and red-winged blackbirds.  There was a huge number of grasshoppers there!!  Later, Craig
