I got to do some quick scans at various spots in Mahoning Co. and Portage Co. the last couple days, while on non-birding travels. The north end of L. Milton held a few Am. black ducks, a common loon, and 250 Bonaparte's gulls. A pond nearby in Jackson Twp. had a couple wood ducks. At the SW end of West Branch SP (Rte. 14 crossing) are large mudflats; 50 killdeer were there. Back east, Evans L. had 15 pied-billed grebes and 90 Am. coots. Pine L. had 125 ruddy ducks.
