I wonder if any reader of this might know, or know someone who knows,
anything about the material on passenger pigeons quoted below. It is
from an 1874 article by Dr. George W. Hill in the Cincinnati Commercial
in 1874, entitled "Recollections of Pioneer Life on the Muskingum." If
anyone can tell me more about Hill's other writings, or can pinpoint the
location of "Dennison's Plains," I would be grateful to hear it.
Thanks for any help!

"There is a tract of land in the southwestern part of Muskingum County,
formerly called "Dennison's Plains," rich and rolling, but destitute of
timber. There was full proof that the timber on that land had once been
a pigeon roost, and had been broken down and destroyed by the weight of
the pigeons. This was confirmed by some Indians who were on the land
about 1813."
