I got a chance to bird a little at Medusa marsh early this morning in
weather only a duck could love-strong north winds and rain.
There were hundreds of mallards, lesser numbers of gadwall and American
wigeon, and a few pintails and black ducks in the pools by the road. The
birds all lifted off at one point due to some hunting activity to the west.
There were also about 20 hooded mergansers just to the north and west of the
269 exit off of Route 2.
