Today was interesting. The morning started out very calm with a light
drizzle. The wind never picked up much (In contrast to this evening) so the
lake was flat and birds were easy to see on the water. The only birds I saw
in the air were gulls, everything else was on the water. There must have
been fish near the surface as I saw a few Bonaparte's and common loons
feeding and for a half hour after that more loons and grebes swam in to join
them. At one time there were about 80 Bonaparte's, 50 common loons, 40
horned grebes and 2 RED-NECKED GREBES. Other than the feeding frenzy the
only other excitement was a constant flow of horned grebes swimming
eastward. Joining them was a single EARED GREBE. No jaegers or anything
like that today.
