Hi all,

Along with Tom & Jackie Bain and Cheryl Harner, I got out for a few hours
this afternoon and combed the shoreline of Alum Creek Reservoir. Info on
this site can be found on the OOS website at:
http://www.ohiobirds.org/birdingsites/showsite.php?Site_ID=19

There was a moderate Common Loon flight, with about 45 birds noted, most on
the main body of the reservoir between the dam and Cheshire Road. No
Red-throated Loons could be found despite searching carefully. This
reservoir can host impressive loon numbers in November. I've seen as many as
400 there in year's past, but they usually don't stay long - sometimes only
a few hours.

There were also small numbers of Horned Grebes and a few Pied-billed Grebes,
and a smattering of Ruddy Ducks, Lesser Scaup, Red-breasted Mergansers,
Bufflehead, and Gadwall.

In regards to the Bexley Rufous Hummingbird, the homeowner will keep us
apprised of the situation, and if it remains this week I or someone will
report on it. If you would like to at least see photos and a brief video of
the bird, visit my blog: http://jimmccormac.blogspot.com/
