emil bacik and i found two (2) very tame purple sandpipers on the breakwall leading to the lighthouse at headlands beach state park this morning (11/19/2008). initially located about half way out to the lighthouse on the east side of the breakwall the two birds gradually worked their way south to where they were literally at the feet of an avid amateur photographer and two (2) hunters. the birds were still on the breakwall when we left at about 10:00 a.m. other interesting birds at headlands beach were an adult little gull and first-winter franklin's gull at the grand river mouth and a flyby parasitic jaeger.

other reports from lake county today were two (2) jaegers, one a dark parasitic, off mentor beach park and an adult black-headed gull found by jerry talkington at sunset park this afternoon.
