Just 10 minutes ago while we were trying to get digiscoped pictures of the Philadelphia Vireo we?followed the vireo from the side of the house to the back and looked at the arrowwod bush it has been frequenting and found a Northern Shrike sitting in it instead of the vireo! I did get a couple of decent pictures of the shrke---it sat nice and still. We do now have some not very good photos of the vireo--digiscoped from about 50-60 feet and moving about. We will keep trying for better ones.
As for the shrike----we didn't let those hawthorn trees grow in the field for nothing---there is method to our madness!? Nice yard bird!? Now we are really glad we didn't go to the lake today!! We only hope
the shrike doesn't get the vireo, but it can have all the House Sparrows it wants. ?

Shari and Ronnie
