Jack Stenger and I saw the previously reported Snowy Owl from 11:00 to 11:30 am this Saturday morning, November 29th, near the same location that John Sharits first reported the bird and where Bill Buskirk saw it earlier this morning. John first reported the bird Friday evening, November 28th, on the Birding In Cincinnati website. The bird is an adult and I believe it's a male, as it is mostly white overall with sparse and light barring. While we viewed the bird, it was resting on the ground at the edge of a corn stubble field about 30 feet off of the south side of US 40. This was along US 40 about 300 yards west of New Paris-Gettysburg Road and about 6 miles west of the intersection of US 127 & US 40 in northwestern Preble County, Ohio (Ohio Atlas, page 64, B-2). See the Sightings Log on the Birding In Cincinnati website for further directions and information.
