The boardwalk is supposed to open again tomorrow.

I estimate that there are 10,000 to 14,000 blackbirds at Spring Valley
this evening. 95% are Red-winged Blackbirds with the rest being
Brown-headed Cowbirds, Common Grackles, and Rusties. I came up with this
estimate by counting the birds in a group of Sycamore trees then
counting similar size groups of trees. There were always about the same
number of birds in the trees, air and in the marsh vegetation.

There was also a Great Horned Owl calling up on the ridge. I got there
at the perfect time as the sun was setting and the half moon was rising.
The Cypress trees had beautiful bronze leaves on.
