Alan Wormington brought up an interesting point.  A couple of years ago
there was an initial movement of cave swallows, a break, and then a second
movement.  The fact that the birds I had were moving east could mean that
they are vanguards of a second movement.  If you are out and about tomorrow
along the lake,  I'd keep your eyes open for swallows, and jaegers.  Good
birding.
