A late Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow was seen today at Mentor Marsh. The
bird was not there in the morning but had appeared by 1:00 in the afternoon.
This distinctly grey individual is much more cooperative than the many
sharp-taileds that have been around since September 30th (though not on Nov. 2,
unfortunately for the delightful Young Birder who was looking for a lifer
yesterday).

Otherwise, it was a day to lament the departure of most land migrants. A
couple of Common Loons flew over Headlands beach, and 400-500 Pine Siskins
passed in a southwesterly direction in large flocks.
