Birds observed at Herrick Fen in Portage Co. I had a mix flock of
brewer's blackbirds, Rusty Blackbirds, Common Grackle and Red-winged
Blackbirds. Is it to early to see the Brewer's and Rusty Blackbirds this
time of year? According to Sibley Field Guide to Birds of Eastern North
America and Handbook of Bird Biology, Cornell Lab of Ornithology,
migration times can be highly variable?

Brewer's Blackbird in flock of 7-12, were foraging sub-shrub and shrub
10ft before the board walk into the fen.
Rusty Blackbirds (could not get a count)
Common Grackle
Black-capped Chickadee
Tufted Titmouse
Song Sparrow
Field Sparrow
Mallards, in the open water of the fen
Northern Cardinal (m&f)
Cedar Waxing Wings
Mute Swan (a pair, m&f)
Red-winged Blackbirds, flock of about 30+

See you in the Field,
