I used the light traffic of a Sunday to hit several urban areas near central Columbus, starting at Marble Cliff, then working east to Gradnview, then north to OSU. I stopped briefly at the Lincoln Twoer footbridge over the Olentangy looking for Black-cr.Night Herons, but could only find a single Great Blue. Otherwise, the day presented some neat birds for such an urban route, including:

Winter Wrens - 2 were foraging along in the bushes along the railroad tracks abutting Goodale Ave in Grandview.

Mimids - a mockingbird was calling near the Watermark Rockpit, just east of Marble Cliff, but even better was a Catbird in a yard off Goodale Ave in Grandview

Cedar Waxwings - small flocks at several stops, with the most in Grandview

Towhee - a male was lurking in Wyman Woods park in Grandview

Sparrows - a nice flock of 20 Chipping Sparrows was feeding in the gone-to-seed community gardens at Grandview Ave and Goodale Ave, but better were the shrubby edges at the OSU Wetlands, which held a Fox Sparrow and 2 Swamp Sparrows among the usual hordes of Song Sparrows and White-throats.

Finches - a Purple Finch flew over the bikepath at Marble Cliff, while Pine Siskins were in several yards in Grandview.
