I spent a few hours poking around in eastern Mahoning Co. yesterday 12/18. I visited Poland Twp., Evans L., Pine L., and Beaver Twp. There's plenty of open water around, but waterfowl were not numerous other than geese. I'm finding lots of spots with cone-bearing trees, but finding finches is another matter. Here's what I came up with: 1050 Canada geese, 12 Am. black ducks, 25 gadwall, 2 n. pintails, 3 n. shovelers, 3 buffleheads, 2 c. goldeneyes, 31 hooded mergansers, 9 wild turkeys, 1 great blue heron, 4 bald eagles, red-shouldered hawks, Am. kestrel, belted kingfisher, n. flicker, 8 red-bellied woodpeckers, pileated woodpecker, Carolina wren, e. bluebirds, Am. robin, n. mockingbirds, Am. tree sparrow, white-throated sparrows, and 30 dark-eyed juncos. Later, Craig
