After reading Jims post on the Beaver Valley count..thought I would add our highlights also. Lisa Ratcliff and I had the Lake Katherine area...we did the Salk Creek Trail(2.5 m.).. I must say birding was rough going for awhile, with not much action.

After leaving Lake K. we had hunters in most fields that looked good for sparrows..and we were forced to move on..in places birds would have been present. Rabbit hunting I guess..

The surprise of the day came at around 3pm, while driving North on Pine Ridge Rd. we found 2 large roosts of Vultures..(with birds still coming in)..in a few Oaks and several White Pine. Our count was amazing- Turkey Vulture-104. And Black Vulture-24!

The regular roost for them(North side of Lake K., off Rock Run had none this time).

Here are rest of high spots- Not many after that.

21-C. Chickadee
3-B.Creeper
14-G.C.Kinglet
69-A.Robin(est. 50 in flock overhead at 4:15-going to bed?)
1-H.Thrush
1-Swamp Sparrow
122-D.E.Juncos

38 sps. for our team.
