To add to the amazing invasion, at least 30 and likely more white-winged crossbills were seen today (Mon 12/8) at the southwest end of Mogadore Reservoir in Portage County. There is an access road to the reservoir off Sunnybrook road just south of Saxe Road. Just past the gate which has been open during daylight hours, there is a large stand of hemlocks on your left (north). At least 30 and likely more crossbills were very actively feeding on the hemlocks on the far east side of the grove and in the 2 large Norway Spruce 20 yards east of the hemlocks.
