I observed a flock of approximately 30 crossbills, all white-winged that I could discern, from the two upper observation decks at Secrest Arboretum near Wooster (Wayne Co.) this morning (12/04). I saw the birds on three separate occasions during my hour visit. The first two times they fed briefly in a larch tree before flying off to the east. The third time they stayed for a longer period (10 minutes?) at the top of a white pine before flying off to the west. Siskins are also there in good numbers. It was hard to get a good count, but I think there were at least 50.
