I’ve  now received the results from all the teams and feeder watchers, so 
here are the  results for the 53rd Hoover Reservoir Christmas Bird Count that was 
conducted on  Saturday, December 20th. We had 61 people take part; this 
included 33  participants in the field, 24 guests at the Metro Parks and 4 feeder 
watchers. I  truly appreciate the efforts of everyone who participated and 
contributed to the  count. 
The  count total was 70 species, including the first Peregrine Falcon 
recorded for  the circle. New record highs were set for 4 species and tied for 2 
other  species.

Canada Goose 2,753, Northern Shoveler 4, Northern Pintail 22 {New  High}, Wood 
Duck 2, Green-winged Teal 2, American Black Duck 245, Mallard  3,406, Gadwall 5, 
Ring-necked Duck 3, Lesser Scaup 1, Bufflehead 6, Hooded  Merganser 133, 
Ruddy Duck 19, Bald Eagle 14, Northern Harrier 1, Cooper's Hawk  7, Red-tailed 
Hawk 33, American Kestrel 8, Peregrine Falcon 1 {New  Species/New High}, Wild 
Turkey 20, Bonaparte's Gull 453, Ring-billed Gull  1,573, , Herring Gull 6, Rock
