An easily viewed Black-headed Gull has been at Lake Arthur, in Moraine State Park, 25 miles across the border in Pennsylvania, since Thanksgiving. We visited the bird site today for about an hour, from 11AM to noon. The deep lake is mostly open water, but there is ice in the bays. When resting on the ice, it was in a mixed group of 5 Bonaparte's and 4 Ring-billed's. The reddish legs and bill are very noticeable along with the lighter colored back and size. When in flight the dark underside of the wings, compared to the Bonie's, is readily seen! 
          The location in Butler County, is about 3 miles southeast of the intersection of Interstate 79 and US422. Take US422 east to the Pleasant Valley Road exit entering the Southshore Park area, following the road past the park office (pick up a map at the front door) to the Point Picnic Area parking lot. The Gull has normally been close by.
