A small group was out for walk in the fresh snow Sunday am. We went to
the pine forest with high hopes of finding white-winged crossbills. No
luck. I don't know if I've ever heard of them reported there, but it
seemed a place worth trying -- especially if the crossbills have been seen
in neighboring Clark County.

In all, a fairly representative cross-section of winter residents were
found, including:

Belted kingfisher
American Crow
Blue Jay
Pileated woodpecker
Downy woodpecker
Red-belied woodpecker
Cedar waxwing
Tufted Titmouse
Carolina Chickadee
White-breasted nuthatch
Carolina Wren
Golden-Crowned Kinglet
Brown Creeper
Dark-eyed junco
White-throated sparrow

Also, there were reports Saturday of approx 100 sandhill cranes flying
over the Glen during the early afternoon.
