I was driving the other day and saw this hawk sitting along the roadside on
top of a dead squirrel. I'm pretty sure it is a Cooper's based on the thin,
dark streaks on the breast and relatively robust legs (the Sharpie legs I
saw in some pictures REALLY looked thin). I have not positively identified
a Sharp-shinned in years and so I thought I would throw it out to the list
for comments. The spots on its back and the small white patch above the eye
have me confused. Comments from those who are SURE would be appreciated.
