After seeing lots of sun forecast for Friday (Jan 9) earlier in the week,
I made plans to combine trips to free up a few hours in Killdeer Plains.
Of course by yesterday the snow was falling steadily by early afternoon.
Nonetheless, I spent an interesting afternoon birding in the snow and ice.

I am attempting my first January 100 with a twist. I came to birding from
the world of photography so I only count what I photograph. This makes for
a list that builds slowly and that now stands at 46. The snow did not help
matters yesterday as visibility was quite limited.

Highlights:
American Kestrel
Wild Turkeys
Northern Bobwhite
Tundra Swans
Horned Larks
Northern Goshawk

The Goshawk was seen (and photographed) near the intersection of T115
(Meeker Upper Sandusky Road) and C75. The Goshawk was a first for me and
made a challenging day even more enjoyable.

Best to all in the new year.
