Hello All,
For those of you who may be trying to reach 100 species in January (and others), four Common Mergansers (a drake and three hens) still remained along the East side of Hoover Reservoir this morning (a scope would be helpful). Along roads in the area of the egg farms just N of Johnstown, many Horned Larks, a group of about ten Snow Buntings, and a singe Lapland Longspur were easily found, and there was a lot of activity at the Hogback Ridge Park feeders, with 17 species of birds, including a female Eastern Towhee, four female Purple Finches, and the Chipping Sparrow reported earlier by Tom Bain. Please check at the Delaware County Preservation Parks website -  http://www.preservationparks.com/parks.asp for more information and directions. The feeder viewing area is open from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM weekdays, and from noon until 4:00 PM on weekends. There are also some nice walking trails in the area.

Good January Birding!
Dan
