Did a little birding from the car and the indoors today with minimal time spent outside. Call me a wuss, I'm ok with that. Big news was the male COMMON REDPOLL that just showed up at the feeders at the Brown Family Environmental Center on Laymon Road near Kenyon College, Gambier OH.9781 Laymon Road, Gambier, Ohio 43022

          phone: (740) 427-5050
?Also at the feeders were White-crowned Sparrows, White-throated Sparrows, other usuals and nearby on the property at large I saw an Immature BALD EAGLE, GREAT BLUE HERON along the river, Carolina Wren, and some Eastern BLUEBIRDS. I didn't find the Field Sparrow I had seen on Dec. 17th there, but a Redpoll is obviously better.

Around Mt. Vernon I ran into a flock of CEDAR WAXWINGS at the MVNU campus, and also a Belted Kingfisher.

A beautiful day inspite of the cold. Exciting birds!
